The last handful of books I’ve read were all historical fictions centering around WWII. So it was really refreshing to pick up a go-to genre of mine — a psychological thriller.
The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain was the type of book that was pretty tough to put down, which is something I very much look for in a book. I love being able to read something cover to cover in under a week. Something that hooks you in the very first chapter.
Happy Monday! I’m pretty excited, this past weekend I finally finished The Nightingale, and oh my goodness I couldn’t stop crying, it was incredibly beautiful and rich with emotions. Lately, I’ve been kind of a sucker for WWII Historical Fiction books.
I also realized that I’m ahead of pace with my 30 books in 2016 goal (yay!), as this weekend I finished my 13th book of 2016 — nearly halfway there! A majority of the books I’ve read this year have been great, truly captivating, wonderful books that I had a tough time putting down. And some that were not so great.
We all get that Sunday night depression. You know, the panicky realization that the weekend is winding down to a close, and tomorrow is, well, Monday. The start of a new week — chock-full of appointments, meetings, emails (so many emails), chores, errands, and plain old hard work ahead of us. It’s overwhelming, yes.
I don’t know how it was accomplished, but I managed to squeeze in enough time this month to read SIX books January. Even for me, that’s a bit aggressive, but hey, I’ll take it. Out of the six books crossed off my reading list this January, one book in particular really struck a chord with me…
Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng was an absolutely incredible read. It left chills on my arms and the story has been lodged in my brain ever since I finished it. I wanted to share with you this absolute must-read.
When browsing, Luckiest Girl Alive claimed that fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train would fall for this page turner. When a publishing house feels their book is worthy enough to measure up the writing standards of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, and then proceed to slap that claim on said book cover, I will more likely than not add it to my Amazon order. (I know, I’m totally a sucker for marketing, sigh)
It’s Judy Blume. As in the Judy Blume who wrote Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. My absolute favorite book as a tween, in addition to about a dozen of others she wrote. I have always loved JB, and when her book came in my June PopSugar Box, I just about died of excitement.
