We were in Arizona the first half of the week and ate out a ton more than we normally do, so we’re heavy on the dining out front this week, but it’s fine. Amazing trip, though very glad to be back home and settling back into our daily routine.
Grocery Shopping = $288.04
Thursday afternoon Trader Joe’s haul with the kids when we returned, got enough to get us through the weekend and potentially to Tuesday / Wednesday ($144.15) plus a Target run to load up on bread, vegetable juice, wipes, chicken broth, etc. ($143.89).Dining Out = $193.18
Night out with my husband and sister in-law ($61 with tip). Brunch at my husbands favorite pancake house ($32 with tip). Airport food / coffee ($22.70). Wednesday post-traveling-across-the-country-with-two-kids-and-no food-in-the-fridge-take-out-emergency-sushi-run ($55 with tip). One bottle of wine + two glasses at the winery ($22.48 with tip).Monday Lunch
Our afternoon activity was the Tucson zoo, and lunch was poorly planned. The baby took a super long morning nap, and we just didn’t think about lunch until everyone was starving at 2pm. We melted cheese and salsa on tortillas and popped them in the toaster oven, called it good enough until dinnertime.Monday Dinner
My husband, his sister, and I went out for Mexican food and margaritas while the grandparents babysat the kids. I had two blood orange margaritas and a HUGE taco salad, both were incredible.
Tuesday Lunch
My husband and I had a bright and early morning meeting with our accountant, and afterwards went out to his favorite pancake joint for a late breakfast. My meal is pictured above. It was wonderful! The afternoon mirrored yesterday, where lunch was forgotten / skipped.
Tuesday Dinner
Since everyone was STARVING, we went straight from the Desert Museum to another Mexican restaurant for a 4pm dinner. Both kids were difficult at the restaurant. It was an excellent reminder of why we rarely dine-out with them (grin). My father in-law paid.Wednesday Lunch
We left Tucson around 8:30am to head up to Phoenix for our 12pm flight. I ate my taco salad leftovers for an early lunch in the car while both kids napped during our drive. My husband had a sad airport sandwich before we boarded our flight, and of course I ordered a coffee for myself before takeoff.Wednesday Dinner
By the time we landed, got our bags, shuttled to the airport parking lot, and drove home, it was around 4pm. As soon as the kids were strapped into their own carseats they passed out. So we drove straight to our favorite sushi spot to place a takeout order while they napped in the car.Thursday Lunch
We had nothing in the fridge. After the toddlers gym class, I took both kids to Trader Joe’s. Once home and groceries unpacked, I made everyone sandwiches and heated up carrot-ginger soup I cooked before we left for our trip.Thursday Dinner
Taco Night! Which equates to a really huge mess at the baby’s end of the table. Oh well.Friday Lunch
Today was a bit of a mess. The toddler was in a mood ALL DAY. She had a PB&J while we had TJ Indian dishes.Friday Dinner
Tonight was shabbat and I was excited it was also a salmon dinner. I paired it with a lemon-rosemary-butter sauce, jasmine rice, and a kale salad. The toddler was still in her mood and we decided to cut dinner short, quickly bathe the kids, put them to bed even quicker, and have an adult dinner without them. No regrets.Saturday Lunch
We decided to go screen-free for 24 hours, so sundown last night to sundown tonight. It was refreshing and absolutely perfect for the soul. The baby and I split yesterday’s dinner leftovers, my husband had a TJ Indian meal and the toddler had a bit of everything.Saturday Dinner
The weather was gorgeous, we spent a lot of time outside with the kids, baked donuts, and read with coffee. Seriously a perfect Saturday. I made three nights worth of chicken breasts, with a tomato-balsamic-butter pan sauce. Tonight I paired it with brown rice and roasted green beans.
Sunday Lunch
Today is my birthday and I hear amazing things about the winery’s out in Missouri, so we’re taking a road trip Augusta. I packed a picnic lunch for us consisting of: salami, gouda, brie, hummus, celery, olive tapenade, breadsticks, crackers, popcorn, baby pickles, kalamata olives, apples, homemade donuts, and three different chocolates for dessert. PERFECT DAY!
Sunday Dinner
Everyone is exhausted and dehydrated but wow what an amazing day. We have the chicken breasts with tomato-balsamic-butter sauce cooked a few nights prior, with roasted broccoli, and brown rice.An excellent week that flew by in a blink. I had such a wonderful birthday with my three favorite humans, forever grateful!
