I am wayyyy overdue for another round of Overrated Reads. And because of that, I’m going to write about five books I found totally hyped up, as opposed to my standard three. Also, because I hate-read my way through two of them, as they both had a really special way of grinding my gears. I don’t understand how some of these books become so popular, it’s a question that blows my mind every time, and it’s why this series, Overrated Reads, was born.

I’m always in the middle of several books, both physical copies along with audiobooks. Earlier this month, I read The Wife Between Us while I listened to The Last Mrs. Parish on an audiobook. I was actually pretty shocked at how similar the two plots were… I kept confusing storylines, character motives, and it became a bit much until I decided to shelf one for a week or so until I finished the other. …
I’m proud to report that I closed out April with nine books! The nine books I finished were a pretty mixed bag, as one can expect. I’d say a majority were winners (a few I would even rate as excellent!) with a couple of lame 2 stars. All in all, I’m pretty happy with the selection last month, and thrilled to share with you. When I find an author I enjoy, I usually end up reading a few of their other books back to back. In this case, I stumbled upon Nicola Yoon via Book of the Month. The Sun is Also a Star was one of their December 2016 picks, and upon reading the description, has been on my To-Read list ever since. I have a soft spot in my heart for Young Adult novels, as I’m sure you could have guessed. OK, so let’s talk about Nicola Yoon’s two novels and what makes this author special….
