I have some fun, book related news — I’ve updated my 2016 Reading Challenge from 30 to 45 books! By averaging three to four books per month, it’s statistically impossible that I’ll end up loving, or even liking the majority. And there’s nothing more aggravating than finally sitting down to read a book you’ve heard so many great things about, only to be left sorely disappointed.
And guess what? It happens a lot. So I’ve decided to start posting a new series, here on Peonies and Bees: 3 Books I Recommend You Skip.
Because I want to spare you, my fellow bookworms, of reads that are just not worth your time. Are you ready for Volume #2 of overrated books?
‘I’m too busy, I can’t read for pleasure I don’t have the time.‘ That is the saddest gripe I hear from people when I ask them what they’re currently reading [insert tear-faced emoji]. If you couldn’t already tell, I love to read. I love books that I get completely absorbed into, especially books that are so good, they’re really hard to put down.
I know that we are all busy, and have jam packed schedules, so here are some tricks I use to help me fly through the pages of a novel during busy weeks. These are some pretty easy little tricks to help you squeeze in more reading, it’s a lot more simple that you think. Now, let’s get started, shall we?
Where I Lost Her by T. Greenwood was one of those extremely gripping books that sucks you in from page one. I cracked this book open on a bleak, rainy Friday evening after dinner, a tall glass of white wine in hand. By the time Sunday afternoon rolled around, I had finished. If you’ve read my previous reviews, you know that I’m a happy camper if I have a hard time parting with a book.
During our most recent Sunday night chat, my grandmother and I got into a very lengthy and heated, albeit friendly, debate about books. Specifically, the medium upon which we each choose to read our novels.

The last handful of books I’ve read were all historical fictions centering around WWII. So it was really refreshing to pick up a go-to genre of mine — a psychological thriller.
The Silent Sister by Diane Chamberlain was the type of book that was pretty tough to put down, which is something I very much look for in a book. I love being able to read something cover to cover in under a week. Something that hooks you in the very first chapter.
